Our Session Structure

General Information

Every D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy program is designed as a one-week, all-inclusive STEM intensive. Throughout the week, students move through a full sequence of hands-on activities, creative design challenges, guest interactions, and skill-building sessions that keep them engaged from start to finish. Each day follows a simple, exciting rhythm with two to three structured activities, spaced by a short snack break provided at no cost to the venue or families. No matter the theme, students take part in a design challenge component where they add their own stylistic, creative, or engineering twist to what they build. These choices earn students plenty of opportunities to win small prizes, candy rewards, and recognition for creativity, teamwork, and effort.

As the days progress, students steadily build their confidence and expand their abilities (enjoying many a provided snack time along the way), and all of their work culminates in a celebration on the final day. The last session features an award moment that highlights their creativity, growth, and problem-solving, giving every child a positive sense of accomplishment. If a venue would like us to return for additional weeks, we are happy to do so; however, each added week must be delivered to a new group of students to ensure that every child receives the complete D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy experience exactly as intended.

Day 1: Lift Off

On Day 1, students step into their roles as real scientists by putting on lab coats, learning our Safe–Curious–Kind expectations, and rotating through three fast-paced missions: rocket engineering, germ detection, and Sphero robotics. They launch chemical-powered “dream rockets,” collect and grow real microbes on agar plates, and write their first simple algorithms to guide robots through mazes. Along the way, they earn points and candy rewards for creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving through our daily Design Challenge and Prize Patrol. The day ends with a high-energy wrap-up that recaps what they discovered and gets them excited for the rest of the week.

Day 2: Circuits & Structures

Day 2 of D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy is Engineering Day, where students shift from exploring science to actively building it. After celebrating the previous day’s Design Challenge winners and hearing from a real engineer, students rotate through three hands-on engineering labs: electrical engineering with Snap Circuits, civil engineering with our Tower Challenge, and software engineering through Scratch animation. Throughout the day, they learn how energy flows through circuits, how shapes create strength in structures, and how code can bring a story to life. Students earn candy rewards for creativity, teamwork, and great questions, and each rotation includes its own design challenge element. By the end of the day, they’ve powered lights and motors, built and tested towers, programmed animations, and experienced what real engineers do—explore, create, and improve.

Day 3: Machines in Motion

Day 3 of D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy is Robotics Day, when students bring engineering and coding together to create real, moving machines. Throughout the day, they explore robotics through hands-on challenges with Sphero robots, obstacle-course programming, and introductory robot-building activities. Students learn how sensors, movement, and logic work together, and they practice debugging, problem-solving, and precision coding in each rotation. They also meet a guest robotician who shows how robots are used in medicine, space, safety, and everyday life. As always, the day includes design-challenge elements, candy rewards, and opportunities to earn points for creativity and teamwork. By the end of the session, students have not only controlled robots—they’ve begun thinking like the engineers who design them.

Day 4: Medical Explorers

Day 4 of D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy is Medical Science Day, where students step into the world of doctors, nurses, and health scientists. Throughout the day, they rotate through hands-on labs that explore how the human body works, how medical professionals diagnose problems, and how real tools and techniques are used to keep people healthy. One of the core activities is a design challenge where students build their own cardboard prosthetic hand, learning how tendons, joints, and grips work while testing and refining their design. Alongside the prosthetic build, students practice disease-detective skills, explore body systems through interactive models, and learn age-appropriate first-aid or CPR basics. A guest medical professional joins the session to share real-world stories and answer questions, and students can earn candy rewards and recognition for creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. By the end of the day, they leave with a deeper understanding of how medical science and engineering come together to help people in the real world.

Day 5: DREAMS Come True

Day 5 of D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy is the Medical Capstone, the grand finale where students bring together everything they’ve learned throughout the week. The day begins with a fast-paced Diagnose & Discover scavenger hunt, where students solve medical clues, complete mini-challenges, and uncover their assigned disease through hands-on investigation. After preparing short presentations, each team teaches the class about their condition before entering our full Hospital Simulation. In this immersive experience, students rotate through the roles of receptionist, nurse, doctor, and patient, practicing communication, vital-sign checks, diagnosis, and teamwork in a realistic hospital flow. Following the simulation, students enjoy a final snack and gather for the D.R.E.A.M.S. Award Ceremony, where every child is recognized for their growth, creativity, persistence, and contributions throughout the week. Day 5 highlights the empathy, problem-solving, and real-world skills students have built — ending the academy on a memorable, inspiring note.

Additional Information

D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy brings a complete one-week STEM experience directly to your campus, providing an immersive blend of Design, Robotics, Engineering, and Medical Science. Once your venue is approved, we schedule a dedicated program week for your site and share the full timetable for each day. This includes the lesson themes, the instructors who will be leading the sessions, and the guest speakers joining your students throughout the week. Every program day follows our signature structure, combining hands-on builds, engaging mini-lessons, real-world demonstrations, and a final design or robotics challenge that keeps students excited from start to finish.

Our team provides all instructional materials needed for the week, including robotics kits, engineering tools, design supplies, science equipment, and laptops or tablets when necessary. Students only need to arrive with a water bottle and the curiosity to explore. Venues are not required to supply technology unless they prefer to, and we work with each site to ensure that the setup is simple and seamless. To support clear communication with families and your community, we also prepare digital flyers, newsletter templates, and ready-to-send parent messages so that promoting your program week requires no additional work from your staff.

We ask that a venue staff member be present in the building during each day of the program to support overall safety and supervision. Our instructors and volunteers fully manage all teaching, hands-on activities, and student engagement. All sessions follow the same safety standards we use across our sites and are designed specifically for elementary and middle-school learners. If your organization requires advance paperwork, background checks, or internal approvals, our team completes these well before your scheduled week.

After your partnership is confirmed, your site coordinator receives a detailed Partner Welcome Packet. This includes your finalized program schedule, direct contact information for your instructors, descriptions of each day’s activities, and a clear outline of what to expect throughout the week. Our goal is to make every hosting experience effortless, well-organized, and enjoyable for both staff and students.

All D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy programs are provided at no cost to partner schools, libraries, community centers, and youth organizations. Our work is fully funded through grants and sponsors, allowing us to bring high-quality STEM education to your students without requiring any financial commitment from your site. We are excited to create a memorable, high-impact STEM week with you and to help your students discover what they are capable of achieving.
