Expanding Impact: D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy’s Kano Chapter

D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy continues to grow its mission beyond borders, and one of the most meaningful expressions of that growth can be seen through our Kano Chapter in Kano. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring our programs to students in different parts of Nigeria and to build connections that allow learning to happen across distance, culture, and circumstance.
Our work in Kano represents more than expansion. It represents access. It reflects our commitment to ensuring that students, regardless of location, are given the chance to experience engaging, hands-on STEM education and to see themselves as capable learners.
Through this chapter, we currently reach two partner schools, Prime Primary School and Sunflower School, where students are actively participating in lessons designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and introduce new ideas. What makes this especially meaningful is that much of this teaching is done virtually. We are able to lead lectures online, connecting directly with students and creating interactive learning environments even from afar.
At the same time, this work would not be possible without the support of our adult volunteers on the ground. Their presence helps bridge the gap between virtual instruction and physical engagement, ensuring that students are supported, guided, and encouraged throughout each session. This collaboration allows us to deliver lessons that are both structured and interactive, combining digital access with in-person support.
We truly love teaching these children. There is something powerful about watching them engage with new ideas, ask questions, and respond with curiosity and energy. In many of the photos captured during these sessions, you can see students looking up with focus and attention, fully engaged in the lesson and following along closely. Those moments reflect exactly why this work matters.
We also want to extend a special thank you to our media team member in Kano, whose efforts have helped capture and share these moments. Being able to document students learning and engaging allows us to tell the story of this work in a real and meaningful way.

The ability to operate across countries, to teach online, and to collaborate with local volunteers is something we do not take for granted. It allows us to reach more students, create more opportunities, and continue building a model that is both scalable and impactful.
We are proud of the work happening in Kano, and we are thankful for every student, volunteer, and supporter who makes it possible. As we continue to grow, moments like these remind us why we do what we do and who we are doing it for.
