Growing Reach in Lagos: D.R.E.A.M.S. in Action

Across Lagos, D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy is continuing to extend its reach, connecting with students in new communities and creating opportunities for meaningful learning experiences. This expansion reflects a broader vision: ensuring that access to engaging, hands-on education is not limited by location.
In Lagos, our work is taking shape across four partner schools: Footsteps School, CMS Grammar School, Grace Schools, and Kiddzzpenn Primary School. Each school represents a different environment and student population, but all are united by a shared opportunity to participate in the D.R.E.A.M.S. learning model.
What makes this effort unique is the way it blends structure with flexibility. Lessons are delivered through virtual sessions that allow us to connect directly with students, while local support helps bring those lessons to life in real time. This approach allows students to engage actively, rather than passively, creating a learning environment where they can ask questions, participate in discussions, and interact with ideas as they are introduced.
Rather than focusing only on traditional instruction, these sessions are designed to feel dynamic and engaging. Students are encouraged to think out loud, respond to prompts, and explore concepts through conversation and guided activities. This creates a space where learning becomes something they are part of, not something happening in front of them.
Featured in the image is one of our young volunteers working closely with a student during one of these sessions. Moments like this highlight the importance of personal interaction within the learning process. When students are supported one-on-one or in small groups, they are more likely to engage, ask questions, and build confidence in their understanding.
As the program continues to grow in Lagos, one of the most encouraging outcomes has been the level of student engagement. There is a visible shift when students begin to connect with the material. Curiosity increases, participation becomes more natural, and the learning environment becomes more active and collaborative.
This expansion also reflects the strength of collaboration. Working across multiple schools requires coordination, communication, and shared effort from everyone involved. Teachers, volunteers, and students all contribute to making each session successful, creating a network that continues to strengthen over time.
We are thankful for the opportunity to work with these schools and to be part of the learning experiences taking place within them. The growth of D.R.E.A.M.S. Academy in Lagos is not just about reaching more students, but about continuing to build a model that creates access, encourages participation, and supports meaningful engagement.
As this work continues, it reinforces a simple idea: when students are given the opportunity to engage with new ideas in an environment that supports them, they respond. And that response is what drives everything forward.
